The announcement you have been waiting for….our new DC Browns Backers viewing site! We will be meeting on Sundays at The Ugly Mug, 723 8th St S.E. in Capitol Hill. www.uglymugdc.com.
Formerly a famous dive bar, The Ugly Mug has been renovated and expanded. The upstairs features a retractable roof and seating for 120. The downstairs is still currently under renovation, but when completed, it will be able to handle the overflow much in the same way the enclosed patio at RFD did. Owner Gaynor Jablonski and his staff are excited to be hosting the DC Browns Backers. They are putting together a great game day menu that you will enjoy. They have a full bar and many beers to choose from, imported and domestic……and yes, they have Great Lakes!
The Ugly Mug is a short walk from the Eastern Market Metro Station. If you are traveling via the Red Line, you will transfer to the Orange Line at Metro Center. If you are traveling via the Green or Yellow lines, you will transfer to the Orange Line at L’Enfant Plaza. If you are driving, there is (free on Sundays) on street parking on the surrounding side streets. There is also a parking lot just past the Marine Barracks that is within walking distance as well.
To introduce you to our new site, we are having a TRIBE WATCH PARTY on Sunday, August 20 at 1pm at The Ugly Mug. The 1st Place Indians will be taking on the Kansas City Royals in a key divisional game.
So their employees can spend the day with their families, several of our Browns Backers bars will be closed today. However, you can still catch the game at our Hard Times Cafe site in Manassas and our former viewing site Neighbor’s Restaurant in Vienna has confirmed that they’ll be open and showing the Browns Chargers game. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and that Santa comes a day early and brings us a win! Go Browns!
While you don’t have to be present to win, you should still come on out to cheer on the Browns and see if you won one of this year’s fantastic raffle prizes. You can see all of this year’s prizes by clicking here.
And remember, all the money raised goes to Toys For Tots, so no matter who wins, kids back home in Northeast Ohio and in here in our adopted city will have a brighter Christmas thanks to the DC Browns Backers!
Join your fellow Clevelanders tonight at RFD Washington to watch the Indians take on the Cubs in Game 3 of the World Series! We’ll have the backroom all to ourselves, just like for Browns games, and there will be food and drink specials all night long.
Good morning Browns Backers! It’s a beautiful, crisp, fall morning—perfect football weather!
It’s time now to make your way to your favorite viewing site and root for our team. Let’s keep that positive Tribe energy flowing! Time for the Browns to finally win one!
Coming soon: News about the 2016 Fan-tabulous charity raffle. We’ve got some great prizes again this year! LET’S GO BROWNS!!
For fans headed out to Tysons Biergarten, check out their game day specials!
Okay DC Browns Backers, our boys are off to sunny south Florida to play the Dolphins. We will have Cody Kessler at QB, so it’s a chance for him to step up and claim the job permanently. The last time we had a QB with a name that started with K, had an S in the middle, and ended with an R, he turned out to be pretty good, so who knows? You gotta show up at your favorite viewing site and find out!
Remember, our memberships are still only $20 and include an embroidered patch with our club logo on it. Memberships are the life blood of our club. More importantly, it helps with our ultimate goal of raising money for Toys for Tots. Due to low overhead and their volunteer staff of Marine Reserves, 97 cents of every dollar goes to buys Christmas gifts for kids who otherwise might not have a Christmas. Regardless of the results on the field, DC Area Browns Backers always come through for the kids!
We have halftime trivia, we have the Browns vs the Fish, and we have the best fans in football!
LET’S GO BROWNS! !!
It’s Rivalry Week as we take on the Ravens in our home opener. We had 310 fans show up at our 4 viewing sites last week, so let’s keep it going. Nearly 20% bought their yearly membership.
This week we’ll have McCown at QB and 17 rookies trying to get us our first win. Let’s get behind the kids and behind coach Hue Jackson and keep the faith they are finally on the right path. We hope to see you Sunday! Let’s go Browns!!
Okay DC Area Browns Backers, we heard your voices. You said you wanted something different as your premium gift with your paid membership. You are tired of the coffee mugs, rocks glasses, pint glasses, beer mugs, soup bowls etc, etc. So this year with your paid membership, you will receive…….an embroidered patch with our logo on it! As you can see, I had mine sewn onto my Jim Brown jersey, and it looks great!
Our 2016 t-shirts are in! On the front you’ll find our logo and on the back—We Bark Together! They will be available at all four of viewing locations. This year our t-shirts are only available in long sleeve, but are still only $20.
