The Browns face the WFT (which is much easier to type than the full name) in Cleveland this Sunday. Hopefully the Browns will make this a two-game winning streak. The Zoom information was emailed on Friday. If you still need the email us at: WDCABBC@gmail.com.
Our club was featured in an article on the Dawgs By Nature website. Here’s the link to my great prediction for the game this week.
The result of Sunday’s game was not what we hoped for. Let’s just write that one off as a pre-season contest! The real season starts on Thursday Night vs. the Bengals. The Zoom Link information has already been sent via e-mail. If you didn’t receive it, send an email to WDCABBC@gmail.com with Zoom Help in the message title.
Several people have asked about paying dues this season. We have decided not to collect dues or pass out membership gifts. WDCABBC is still going to try to raise money for Toys for Tots. So if you would like to give, you can donate via Paypal or Venmo. Our Paypal email is WDCABBC@gmail.com. Our Venmo info is:
First Name: Washington DC Area
Last Name: Browns Backers
The suggested donation amount is $20, but any amount is appreciated. If you don’t have PayPal or Venmo accounts and would like to mail a check, please send us an email requesting the address.
This Sunday, join your fellow DC Browns Backers via Zoom for our 1pm game against the Ravens. We will have “door” prizes and a breakout room for those folks who normally watch our Browns in Virginia.
We will send out the Zoom link and password via email, so if you do not receive an email from us by 8pm Friday, September 11th, please email WDCABBC@gmail.com with “Zoom Help” in the subject line. We hope to “see” you on Sunday!
Dear WDCABBC Members,
After careful consideration and a lengthy discussion with our leadership team, we have decided that our club will not be hosting watch parties in person this season. The health and safety of our members and their families is of the utmost importance. We all have a responsibility to keep those around us safe, which unfortunately means missing out on some in-person activities that we enjoy.
We are planning for virtual watch parties so that we still get to “see” our fellow members and chat about the Browns as the game is going on. While we know this is not the same as gathering together at a viewing site but we are trying to get creative. Please keep an eye on our website for more details.
Thank You WDCABBC!!!! Our club raised $5,200 this season for Toys for Tots!! $2,600 each will go to Toys for Tots in DC and Cleveland. We exceeded last years total by $2,100! Thanks for your generosity and for being the best sports fans around. The list of lucky raffle winners can be found here.
The Browns take on the Ravens this week in Cleveland at 1pm. Come out to your favorite viewing site and cheer for our Browns. I hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas and a wonderful Holiday season.
If you became a member of our club just this season or renewed your membership, you helped a child! If you purchased a T-shirt, you helped a child! If you purchased raffle tickets, you helped a child!
Thank you also to all of our volunteers, who collected memberships and sold T-shirts and raffle tickets. They make our club run smoothly and allow us to raise money for a good cause while we watch our beloved Browns play each week.
All of our viewing sites will be open as the Browns face the Cardinals on the road tomorrow. Just a reminder that Kickoff is at 4:05 pm. Our 2019 Toys for Tots Charity Raffle will take place at Fado after the game is over. For those attending at Fado, you will have an opportunity to buy some last minute raffle tickets!
The Browns face another Division foe this week and look to bounce back from a disappointing performance against the Steelers. If the Browns can win the next two games, they will creep back to 7-7 with two games left in the season. So come to one of our viewing sites and cheer on our Browns to victory!!
This is the last week for fans at Blackfinn, Eclipse and Ugly Mug to buy tickets for our 2019 Charity raffle. Don’t miss out on your chance at winning some great prizes and helping underprivileged kids in DC and Cleveland have a wonderful Christmas. The raffle drawing is December 15th at Fado and the winner does not need to be present.
Fins and Wins
While the Browns have not lived up to the pre-season hype, they have strung together two home wins in a row. Come to one of our viewing sites and watch our team extend that winning streak to three games by beating the Miami Dolphins.
We are still selling raffle tickets to raise money for Toys for Tots. The prizes are shown here. Talk to your site coordinator about buying tickets. Remember the winner does not need to be present and you select the prize(s) that your tickets go towards.
Speaking of site coordinators, our club would not exist without our great volunteers. That includes our site coordinators: Dan, David and Kristen P. and our VP and membership chairperson, Kristen M. They donate their time and energy so that you have a great viewing experience. Please thank them for all that they do for our club. I’d also like to thank our members that have pitched in: Denise, Sarah and Sean. We would not have all of the great viewing sites that we have without our volunteers.
We can always use more people to help out. Our club could use a social events coordinator to plan group outings to Indians and Cavs games, off-season banquet or cookout, etc. If interested, please email me at email@example.com.
This weekend as the Browns face the Denver Broncos, we will kickoff our annual Charity Raffle. Raffle tickets cost only $2 each or 3 for $5. The raffle will be held on Sunday, December 15th at Fado and the winner does not need to be present. Our proceeds go to Toys for Tots in DC and in Cleveland. Check out our awesome prize packages here. So let’s raise some money for Toys for Tots and watch our Browns start to turn this season around!
So the Browns are facing the New England Patriots and the game is on local TV at 4:25 PM. This is your time to prove that you are a true Browns fan! This is NOT the time for you to sink into your own sofa at home. When the going gets tough, real Browns fans show up. So make your way to your favorite WDCABBC viewing site this Sunday. Our hosts count on us to be there in full force, so let’s show them what Browns fans are made of!
Neil, WDCABBC President
